Events in 2020

Saturday, January 25: Seed Swap, 9 am-1 pm, co-sponsored by Flower City Garden Network and the Penfield Community Victory Garden, taking place in the Community Room at the Penfield Recreation Center, 1985 Baird Rd, Penfield, NY 14526. Share seeds and houseplants, enjoy some refreshments, and hear a couple of fun talks. Spring Blooming Perennials: Garden designer Carol Southby will present a slide show of some of her favorite garden perennials for early spring bloom. Carol will also share tips on how to propagate them, and show ways to use them to create plant combinations for season-long interest. Western New York Spring Wildflowers: Ellen Folts, owner of Amanda’s Garden native perennial nursery, will show and describe our native spring wildflowers, covering how to identify them, where they fit into our local habitats, and how to add them to our gardens for a more sustainable and ecologically sound landscape. Bring seeds you’ve collected or saved, and houseplant cuttings, but join us whether you have seeds and plants to contribute or not – there will be plenty for everyone! Propagating Plants Using Nature as a Guide

Ellen Folts of Amanda’s Garden Native Plant Nursery, will discuss seed-starting procedures, cuttings, fern production and division of wildflower perennials. The program will help you choose the correct plants to use and proper propagation protocols to make it easy it is to propagate plants using nature as a guide.

 

Ontario County Master Gardner's Spring Garden Symposium

  •  Planning and Planting with Native Plants to Improve our World , Ellen Folts, owner of Amanda's Garden Native Perennial Nursery.

  • We Reap What We Sow: Being the Change We Wish to See(d) in the World, Petra Page-Mann, Co-founder of Fruition Seeds.

Refreshments, a hot buffet lunch, and the opportunity to win door prizes are included in the registration fee.

Amanda's Garden Wildflower Celebration

Saturday, May 9 and Sunday May 10, 2020 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Rain or Shine.

Our annual spring event, come out and enjoy the spring wildflowers. We'll have our beautiful native plants for sale. We will have demonstrations and guided tours of the property so you can see native plants in both a garden setting and in the wild. Bring the kids to enjoy our coloring pages and hands on planting stations. We will have our scavenger hunt that can save you money. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand to answer questions and give consultations of your landscape.
