Nodding pink onion is my daughter Amanda's favorite flower. The globe shaped flower is really a cluster of pink star shaped flowers. Each flower has 3 petals and 3 sepals the 5 white stamens project outside the petals. The flowers nod or hang down. This gives the flower a the appearance of a small pink fireworks. The plant is deer resistant. They don't like the taste.

The leaves are flat and linear forming a clump. The plants grows from a bulb and will reseed or increase by bulb off sets. Nodding pink onion will form a nice little colony in moist well drained soil. He plant can withstand dry rocky soil also. Performing beautifully but not spreading as quickly. It flowers in midsummer, July into August.

Nodding pink onion grows to about 12 to 18 inches. It attracts bees and flies. Good companions are river avens, woodland stone crop, penstemon, and woodland phlox depending on where you are going to be planting it.
