Prairie Smoke gets its name from the feathery pink blooms that open in spring to early summer. This highly interesting and attractive perrenial makes a wonderful border plant, growing 6 inches to 1 foot tall.

Each stem produces 3 deep pink nodding bell-shaped blossoms, that open into the smoky, gauzy pink-gray plums. The blue-green leaves are fern-like and hairy, turning red in the fall, though sometimes stay evergreen.

Prairie Smoke takes part to full sun and prefers medium to wet soils.
