Cheerful, bright yellow flowers adorn this beguiling plant. The flowers are daisy like. It has golden yellow ray flowers and darker orange disk flowers. The flowers are about 2 inches across. The leaves are med to dark green and e 2½–5" long and 1–3½" across. This plant blooms profusely in mid to late summer.

 

Oxeye Sunflower produces both pollen and nectar for a wide variety of pollinating insects including flies, bees, beetles and butterflies. Leave the seed heads up in the fall and birds will eat the seeds. Other insects will also feed on the leaves but the plant easily withstands the damage.

 

Oxeye does spread fairly quickly so it great for a boarder garden or large meadow or prairie garden. The plant goes 3 to 5 feet tall. It will grow well in dry to moist conditions making it ideal for rain gardens. It will grow in full sun to part shade.
