Rough goldenrod adds bright, interesting fall color to the garden. The plant is named for its mounds of green lanceolate leaves, which have a wrinkled or rough appearance. In late summer to early fall, the plant produces showy yellow flowers, attracting butterflies, birds and bees.

Rough goldenrod grows in medium to wet well-drained soils. The plant prefers full sun, but will tolerate light shade. Rough golden-rod will self seed in the garden.
